Strictly World Cup Of Dahnce 2015 – RESULTS

Are you ready?

Yes, it happened. After 4 years of utter dominance, Kara has been dethroned, and Sophie Ellis Bextor (‘s Charleston) reigns supreme over the Strictly World Cup. With Jill (Series 2) in 4th, Alesha (Series 5) in 3rd, Kara (Series 8) in 2nd and Sophie (Series 11) in 1st, it’s apparently that we can just write off next series already and await the arrival of the 5th Goddess Of Dahnce in 2016. Still, until then, let’s all wait in anticipation to see just how more awkward the relationship between Ola and the show can get, wonder if getting an actual winner will force the producers to break Pasha’s streak of partnering sexy young women, and most of all, what a Gleb is.

Oh and the Pro Poll is on next Sunday. Be there. Or somewhere else, then come back at any point over the next month or so, it’ll be open til the Launch Show.

Right, that’s it. I’ve been voting for Alesha for everything and Colin and Harry for almost everything, but I’ve been diluting my vote with other lesser dancers. From here on in I (and all the Nintendo DSs) in the house are voting All Alesha All The Time until one of her dances gets revealed as through.

Even this bloody tablet is involved in an anti-Alesha conspiracy – each use of her name involves about six attempts to override the autocorrect.

Yay for Natalie’s Salsa (YOU’RE A VEGETABLE!), Scott’s Viennese Waltz, Sophie’s Viennese Waltz and Holly’s American Smooth of making the shortlist. But only Rachael for AT? No Kara or Alesha or Dr. Hamela in the VW? Harry’s Waltz which lulls me to sleep is in but his VW or Quickstep or AT isn’t? Caroline and Nancy, out of all people, in the Rumba? Lol there goes the votes for you then.

Still waiting patiently for Charleston to come so that Sophie could destroy everyone else. Juss sayin.

Well some surprises for me in this lot! I tried hard to be more objective and not vote for Alesha too often, but I can’t believe her VW didn’t make the cut! My only consolation is Blessed Kara isn’t dominating the results.

Just a reminder that there are 8 going through in each category so if your favo isn’t up yet, it doesn’t mean they didn’t get through. I’m just leaking the results slowly to build the tension (/wind people up) (/grub for more hits).

Thank Heavens for that, I must’ve missed the top 8-thingy.
About the newer results – YAS at Alesha’s Waltz, my favourite ever. Pleasantly surprised at Scott’s yawning Quickstep to be there as well. Eh @ Hollly’s AT though, that was still the laziest AT ever (though not the worst – hello Susanna)

Totally unrelated, but I don’t twitter, so I don’t know how else to communicate this.

Arlene Phillips and Natalie Lowe are doing Celebrity Masterchef!!!!!!

    That is all.

I’m so excited for Natalie proudly serving up a plate of burnt carrots and beaming about how AMOYZING it is, so much VITAMIN SOY!

I hope she’ll be in it long enough to impress, to pave the way for getting her long-overdue ringah. Who was she even with last year? Was she actually in Strictly at all? My mind is blank.

On the strength of Natalie saying on ITT her fave toast topping was “creamed corn……oh, you don’t have that here, do you?” I tracked the bugger down and yeugh! Vile-est toast topping evah! Didn’t even taste like sweetcorn, which I like!
And greasy Torode better not flirt with her or else!

Unexpectedly happy with the results, I mean yeah there are some weird results there but overall not too shabby for polls that were usually set up for Kara to win EVERYTHING. And I really thought anything from Kara would be there. Still had no idea what the heck is her Foxtrot doing there though, while two of the best Foxtrots ever by Tom (his first one) and Lisa (her final one, and both from S6) aren’t there, but that’s just my two cents, and at least Rachel’s there (S6 really was a great season for Foxtrots). I really am in the mood for Foxtrotting today.

It does make a change not to see the block voting by the super fans LOL! These results give me a good excuse to try and find video clips of each dance before we vote again. 😀

I know I shouldn’t be greedy but I can’t believe Austin Healey (and Erin’s!) quickstep isn’t in the top 8 – Scott Maslen? Really?

Nor Zoe & Ian’s gorgeous “Almost Like Being in Love” Nat King Cole QS that made Len swoon. Yet their 70s-not-so-tastic Aquarius Samba is……? Bizarre!

Caroline already got 5 dances in top 8. No doubt her Contempowafting Showdance will sneak in too when Monkseal puts it up. Overrepresented! 😛

Don’t forget her Charleston, which will almost certainly get through (it will be on merit, though). 7/15 dances, not too shabby.

(What are her Samba and Cha-Cha doing there though seriously).

Add her Rumba to the mix. Sure, it had shirtless spaceman Pasha, but top 8? Nevah, dahling.

  9. Ross

Glad to see Cherie Lunghi’s Rumba up there; I’d forgotten it completely, but re-watching it, it really is the most gorgeous Rumba, isn’t it? Not a trace of the dirty-filthys about it. 😛

Just waiting to see which one of the Sainted Dances is our first shock casualty; my money’s on Rachel’s Argentine Tango.

It appears the first Sainted Dance to go was Alesha Dixon’s waltz, which I thought had a shot at winning decisively. My support goes to Zoe’s tango now.

What are you talking about? Everyone’s #1 favourite dance, the Holy Snowdance, is there. It’d be a real travesty if the Holy dance lost before at least top 4.

Seriously though, mine too. Gutted to see Hit the Road Jack booted so soon.

Is that Scott’s “Hit the Road Jack”? Because I’m pretty sure I can see it in group F. Otherwise, which “Hit the Road Jack” do you mean?

      2. Dario

I noticed that, I must’ve missed that when I made the comment. Which means I didn’t vote for it, dang it.

No love for Penny Lancaster’s samba? Sure it was sloppy as hell, but it was gaymazing like nothing else was before or has been since.

Susanna goes through, Sophie has two dances through, Natalie four, Mark has two, and Abbey…? What a memorable winner she was.

The best part of these competitions is being reminded of all the fab dances I’ve forgotten – Jade’s “Question!” Samba being high up on the list.

BTW Monkseal, can you please start a blog about speculation on the contestants for this season?

A bloke who lives in my road called Eddie ‘Tenpole’ Tudor (one for us post-punks) was looking uber dashing on the 73 bus last week, piercing blue eyes, tall, slim and looks v. stylish in a suit. He’d bring the upper class charm/wit that the antiques duffer had last year, but with an extra bit of rogueish totty in the looks department and natural rhythm to boot. According to his convo on the bus, he’s free at the mo, so sign him up asap. Would fulfill the middle-aged man vacancy perfectly, with nostalgia thrown in.

Two votes used apart from the group which contained Sophie’s Charleston, where any other vote would be sacrilege.

That D group is just evil. I mean, both Natalie’s AS and Vegetable Salsa along with Scott’s Jive and Kimberley’s Fever? You gotta be kidding me Monkseal *cries*

    Whatever, Sophie for the win!

Oh that’s ridiculous, Ramps isn’t even the best male dancer the show has seen and yet he gets 2 dances through? stop voting with your sex organs people!

    1. missfrankiecat

I don’t know whether its my sex organs but his two dances are way more memorable than Scott Maslin and Michael Vaughans efforts.

Is everyone so nostalgic for the good ole days that they can’t bring themselves to vote for any dance that has a current pro? (Sophie’s Charleston being the exception).

    1. BuddyBontheNet

Choices have been easy for me so far and most of them were from Series 6 or earlier because the performances thrilled me and the couple stuck to the rules – such as they were back then. I still enjoy the show, but few routines are good enough to replace my favourites so nostalgia wins.

Had a problem choosing between Alesha and Ramps in the last category though!

    1. Dario

Well my last two standings now have to face each other. It’s hard but I gotta vote for Sophie. Why can’t both of Ramps’ dances face off against each other anyway, both Natalie’s AS and Salsa were in the same category before :/ Whatever, Sophie ftw!

I think Sophie’s Charleston winning out of those 4 would be very fitting and deserved.

But I wish Monkseal had put up Jill & Darren’s Paso to vote for (or maybe he did and it didn’t get through?) It was my fave dance of theirs, and a classic competition standard Traditional Paso that I love. From the series 2 semi-final when we still had couples doing the same dance, still my favourite episode of all time. ❤

Everybody loves an underdog, so on that basis Sophie should win (or more to the point, the dance should win – deprived of its RIGHTFUL PLACE in the final and kicked out into the cold before it could show what it could do, again, only even better ( sorry, emotions winning over grammar there).

    Thoroughly deserved win! 😀

Was beginning to despair after JFG voted Best New Pro from last season in another Poll, and Trent was called "a Thunderbird" on DS.

Hurrah for Sophie! I could probably watch that Charleston on loop for a month.

Now time to rig the Pro Poll for a joint Trent-Iveta win! (I can dream)
