That Thing What Len Said V : Season Of The Witch

And so we gather, as we must every year around this time, to remember that time that Len said that thing. That thing about Lisa Snowdon being the greatest female dancer never to win Strictly Come Dancing. Over the years, the tone of the gathering has (mostly) changed from a veritable gale of scoffing at Lisa Snowdon’s supposed talents into a celebration of the true leading lights in the Circus Of Wuzzrobbed. Crushed at the last by their awkward personalities, their pros’ dodgy choreography, the producers giving them a dodgy dance-draw, or even the judges deciding that this was DEFINITELY GOING TO BE A YEAR OF THE WOMAN AFTER ALL PATRICK ROBINSON LOL OOPS BYE. These really are the Trus Stars of Strictly. The ones that haunt the ballroom forever, moaning and praying for a Xmas Special or an All-Star series to give their lives meaning, like the guests on the Marie Celeste or The Phantom Of The Opera.

As usual, the top 10 in this poll will remain next year. The rest…like dust to the wind.

aye.. but just because one is an obvious bot doesn’t mean that one isn’t obviously the best dancer listed. Rachel gave realistic bot like emotion as she learnt from the other competitors in the tess pit as was, and therefore produced the best rumba anyone has ever done on this show. Touching the divine is entertaining but not neccesary as any true bot will tell you. To quote Spock, “It is illogical”. πŸ™‚

Ah… the Wuzzrobbed ladies are much more difficult to choose from than the Wuzzrobbed men. It was just a case of having to decide between Colin and Austin for me.

However good Austin was, I can’t un-see that Paso. I don’t think my toes uncurled until the clocks went forward again.

Many of those women, from Zoe to Sophie, couldn’t dance Latin. If you want to talk about overscored Sambas, top of my list is always Zoe’s anaemic “Age of Aquarius” snoozefest that mysteriously got 4x10s! ???

Yet poor Ali Bastian, who could dance Latin & Ballroom, and did one of the most technically complex Salsas ever, is strangely languishing at the bottom of the Poll.

I love how your readers rewrite history Monkseal! πŸ˜›

I find it “interesting” that Jake & Janette’s Salsa notched up 35 with our judges and Simon & Kristina’s registered 36, whereas Ali & Brian’s absolutely superb Salsa during Series 7 scored a measly 32!

Yikes! …and I’ve just noticed that Mark & Karen’s salsa free Salsa that should have seen them doing the last dance instead of Sunetra & Brenda tied with Ali & Brian’s score!

I didn’t think that Zoe scored 40 for her Samba – I thought the Samba was a dance still waiting for its first 40? πŸ˜‰

You’re right, it was lauded so much by the Judges, it felt like it!

      35 in week 5 series 3
38 in the Final, with 10s from Len & Bruno.

      Thank you Ultimate Strictly. πŸ™‚
